What To Expect
Full itinerary of the tour:
Day 1: Tirana
Accommodation in center, city tour , dinner.
Day 2: Tirana – Apollonia – Vlora 150 km
Pick up at Tirana Airport or city and transfer to the beautiful city of
Vlora. On the way we stop for a visit in the ancient city of Apollonia,
one of the most important cities during Roman times, located in the
famous Via Egnatia.
The Roman Emperor Augustus Octavian studied here. Afterwards we
head towards Vlora, the town of Albania’s Independence for
overnight.
Dinner in Lungomare with tasty traditional food.
Day 3: Vlora-Butrint 145 km
Breakfast and coffee at the same place of dinner in the middle of
Lungomare. Our trip continues towards Saranda, the jewel of Albania.
We drive on the spectacular Albanian Riviera looking down at the
Ionian Sea accompanied by breathtaking sceneries like the one at the
Llogara pass, we stop for photos at Llogara’s panorama. We continue
on to Saranda, to visit the ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. It is situated in a beautiful peninsula among dense
vegetation. One of the most recommended destinations in Albania
definitely! Dinner at Lekursi Castle in Saranda, with a wonderful
panorama of the city and it’s shores, in near distance lies Corfu.
Overnight in Saranda (or nearby Ksamil)
Day 4: Saranda- Gjirokastra-Berat (UNESCO) 191 km
After early breakfast we will continue our trip towards Berat. Stop in
Gjirokastra, the stone city, a UNESCO site and museum town with
beautiful and very distinct architecture. Visit the Fortress which is used as
the venue for the National Festival of Folk Song and Dance and has an
Ams’ Museum with weapons from WWII. Next we visit the Ethnographic
Museum which is also the house where the Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha
was born. Transfer to Berat, one of the most attractive characteristic towns
in Albania and a UNESCO protected site. In the afternoon we will explore
the city independently. Overnight in Berat
Day 5: Berat-Tirana 95 km
After breakfast and a fast coffee in the city boulevard we go to visit the
main destinations and attractions that Berat has to offer starting with the
Onufri Museum. Onufri was an Albanian Icon master, painter of the 16th
century who painted many Orthodox churches in Albania and
Greece.Berat castle is of particular interest as people still live within its
walls in their traditional houses, as have their ancestors for centuries. The
castle used to have over many churches of which 7 still remain, including
one turned into the Onufri Museum. Continue to Tirana and take a sightseeing tour in
the capital. Overnight in Tirana
Day 6: Tirana- Airport 20 km Ending of Tour
Breakfast, free time to explore the city until time of transfer to airport.
